Control panel operation
When you open a page which contains MIDI files or Audio files, the files specified by the server will be transmitted and played back. Even in pages which do not specifically support MIDPLUG for XG, any MIDI file which is attached in the form of "xxx.mid" or "xxx.aif (for example)" will cause MIDPLUG for XG to automatically be started up to play the file.
For client and server settings, please refer to the paragraphs which follow.

MIDPLUG for XG has "stream playback" functionality which allows playback to begin before a MIDI file has been completely downloaded. However, stream playback is possible only for MIDI files which were saved in Format 0. If the MIDI file was saved in Format 1, the normal playback method will automatically be selected.

  • With a setting of "High speed," the buffer size will be small, meaning that only a short interval will elapse before playback begins. However if your phone line is congested, pauses or interruptions may occur in the sound.
  • As the setting is decreased toward "Low speed," there will be fewer interruptions in the sound, but a longer interval will elapse before playback begins, in comparison with "High speed."
  • With a setting of "Off," the stream playback function will be turned off.
